Privacy

Short Version
I understand how frightening it can be to think that your privacy has been violated. I will keep all your personal information secret, and I will not share it with anyone else without your permission.

Long Version

Information collected
This site may log your IP address when you visit. This information is used for administering the site and for traffic tracking and management purposes. IP addresses may also be logged for security.

Contact Form
Email addresses and names are required for the contact form. This is for two reasons:
1) to cut down on spam, and
2) to enable me to reply to comments.

I will only use your email address to reply to you, and I will not give it to anyone else without your permission. If you are uncomfortable with giving me your email address or name, you can file your comments anonymously on the site and I will do my best to reply to you.

Finally, I will keep any personal information that you include in the contact form in the strictest confidence, and I will not share it with anyone without your permission.

Please note that any information disclosed in the comments area, or in any other public area of this site, becomes public information. Please be very careful when disclosing any personal information on the public areas of this site.

From time to time I will partner with advertisers and affiliates to provide on site advertising or products. However, neither I nor this site are responsible for the privacy practices or policies of advertisers and affiliates.

Accessibility

Accessibility is a big deal for me, so I have invested in ensuring that FindingYourMarbles.com meets or exceeds accessibility standards such as the W3C Web Accessibility Content Guidelines (WCAG).

FindingYourMarbles.com is based on the “Marbles” accessible Wordpress theme by Mike Cherim. Mike is the creator of several award-winning accessible sites and he is a committed advocate of web accessibility. He also runs an organic gardening business and he knows secrets about ladybugs.

There are several features on this site which all increase its level of accessibility. I have included Mike’s description of the accessibility features at FindingYourMarbles.com:

Resize.
Resizable text content is a browser feature many web developers inadvertently disable for Internet Explorer (IE) users. Text can be resized by using the function in your web browser — even in IE. Try this, if you’re so equipped: Hold ctrl and rotate your mouse’s scroll wheel. Or use View > Text Size on your browser.

Focus.
Links and form fields were made to indicate focus to prevent you from becoming disoriented on the page if you’re using a keyboard to navigate. Links change to their hover state when focused upon and form fields change in a couple of ways.

Jump Links.
Also, hidden “jump links” have been added which will reveal themselves when needed. Want to see what I mean? Go ahead, using your keyboard, Tab onto any page. The links will show in the upper left-hand portion of your viewing area.

Scripting.
All necessary scripting used on this site is carried out server-side. This ensures that everybody has access to the same look and functions as everyone else. To use this site you have to download or install nothing, and if you have JavaScript disabled, that’s no problem either. Also, by running everything on the server side, loading time for the site is minimized for those of you on dialup.

Testing.
To ensure quality access, this site has been tested using various browser programs. Moreover, in addition to mark-up and style sheet validation, mechanical checks were made at sites like WebXact, CynthiaSays, and SiteReportCard.

Other.
Semantic mark-up, valid code, separation of structure, styles, and content. The works. There are even a number of features that are too complicated to mention in brief. In a nutshell, this site adheres to the most current methodologies of proper web design.
