Emmanuelle,

Healing from panic attacks took me quite a while but the biggest help to me was therapy. Sometimes just having an impartial observer can make a huge difference, plus therapists have a variety of different methods that they can use to help manage and treat panic attacks.

Thanks Scott
Yes your blog's a big help, as is anything I can read about panic attacks, and most important, how people deal with them and overcome them. I believe it's not a curse, it's just another disease, and I'm so sick of being dependent on the meds (for a logn, long time, if I didn't have my anxiety meds in my purse, I wouldn't even leave the house)... Now it's better, but I still have them in my purse just in case. A safety net... I'm slowly beginning to realize that my usual response to panic attacks, when they happen, is not a solution. Usually, faced with panic, I'll try to get out of wherever I am and "get some air". While that may provide me with a temporary feeling of well, feeling a bit better... it's not the solution. I can now distinguish between full panic attacks and those "smaller" ones which i can control, face and win. I had one of my worst attacks when I was on a ferryboat from France to England. I was medicated for the trip (8 hour long) but still, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I couldn't breathe, and being fully aware that if needs be, there was no way I was getting off the boat. Needless to say, in that situation, all I did was take my meds and bide my time until they kicked in. When we touched ground I was in such a bad state that I had to be flown back to France the next day. I don't ever wanna feel like a slave to my problems like I did that day. I want to be able to enjoy trips and holidays far away from my home without being sick. That's my ultimate goal, but I'm not sure how to get there!
