I want to start by thanking you for your site, it is a huge help to be able to associate yourself with people who feel like you do. I have suffered from panic attacks since I was 4 years old. It is now 20 years later and they still exsist with the same terror they had then. I have the attacks that have no trigger, other than experiences similar to the previous attack, for example, If I had an attack in the morning at the bagel place around the corner, I would have trouble going back there until I was a difference "visual" environment--i.e. at night? unfortunatly bagel places aren't open at night. lol. My triggers are purely visual. This makes me feel like a prisoner to avoid all the places I have had them before-iuntil I forget them all together. I am current taking paxil 50mg which I have been stedily increasing from 10mg since I was 16. Now Im looking for something new. The worst part of my panic attacks is how dissapointed I get with myself, even though everone tells me its not my fault. Im trying not to feel prisoner in my own body, and its so helpful to read this site. Thanks.

This is a very good and thorough article. I like your explanation about the breathing techniques. Another effective technique is what experts usually call "Questions and Answers." To begin, be seated comfortably with eyes closed, and begin mentally asking yourself some questions like What does it feel like to be calm and relaxed? and How would it feel right now if I were at peace with myself and the world?. If I ask the above questions calmly and slowly to myself, I usually get better quite soon. Just a recommendation, it could not do any harm.
