Alive and Kicking

Posted by Scott Davis

Just a quick post to let people know that I’m sticking around and writing. I have been off managing a few personal issues that have come up but I’m back at writing now. I plan to start posting new articles later this week.

In the meantime, there has been a major change here in Canada in the mental health community. The Canadian government has formed a Commission to deal with mental health issues in Canada. The new Commission, called the “Mental Health Commission of Canada” will be tasked with issues such as discrimination, lack of funding for mental health patients, and new forms of treatments. Also, in true Canadian fashion, the new Commission will include members who are suffering from mental health problems. It is a first for Canada, and it is definitely a great source of hope for anyone who is struggling with mental illness. I am particularly happy about the fact that the Commission will include real sufferers. It’s about time we got a voice. The results should be interesting.

You can see the Commission’s homepage at: Mental Health Commission of Canada. There’s not much to see yet, but check it out and be sure to drop them a line.

More to come…

Scott
